Brief Biodata :
Born on 19th October, 1958 Dr. Debasish Sarkar, graduated in Mining Engineering from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad in the year 1980 (1st class with Hons.) and joined Coal India Ltd. He received his M. Tech and Ph.D. from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad while working in Coal India Ltd. in the year 1984 and 2001 respectively. Dr. Sarkar also obtained First class Mine Managers' Certificates of Competency in the year 1984 from Director General of Mines Safety.

Dr. Sarkar was the Hony. Treasurer of MGMI and Hony. Sec of MGMI (HQ) for the period 2003-2007 and the 100 years of MGMI celebrated during 2006

A scholar throughout his academic career together with a bright professional career, Dr. Sarkar has contributed immensely to the mining Industry. His technical competence and administrative acumen is widely acknowledged. He had extensively toured outside India on different official assignments which has proved him a good deal of international exposure and experience.
