Has done his Bachelor and Master degree in Applied Geology from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in the year 1991 & 1993 & is doing his Ph.D on Palaeomagnetism in the same university. He published No. of papers in various Journals of repute. Presently Shri Roy is working in Coal India Limited as Dy. Sgpt. Geologist  & associated with various MGMI events Like 'DSG- 2005' & Asian Mining Congress, 2006 and 2008. Presently he is Hony. Jt. Secretary of MGMI.
